Pandemic Survival Tournament

Pandemic Survivial Tournament
A full-scale Pandemic tournament will be infecting Hal-Con on Saturday, November 5, starting at 10:30 a.m. Hal-Con has been identified as patient zero, and will be the site of the first preliminary tournament of the 2017 season, before this tournament series spreads across North American and around the world.

Sponsored by Z-Man Games, Pandemic Survival is an “extreme” version of Pandemic where six to 12 teams of two will face each other in an epic battle to save the world. Their goal: to be the first team to find all four cures, or to be the last team still alive at the end of the game.

In this tournament-style version of the game, all teams will face the same problems: their player cards will all be placed in the same order before the game; the infected cities are the same for everyone; the Epidemics strike at the same time for all teams; every team has the same role cards. The only difference is the decisions they will make! Their strategic choices will lead each team in different directions, and one strategy will pay off in the end and lead to victory. The game master will call out the Infection cards, while other scour the tables to see if any of the team have succumbed to the Pandemic.

You will never know what other teams are up to, because a screen separates each board, immersing you in your own game.

Different strategies will emerge, but which one will lead you to victory? Will you be the first to find all four cures? Or will all other teams succumb to the game and you will be the last ones standing? The only way to find out is to participate in this epic challenge!

SIGN-UP NOW! Teams have until Thursday, November. 3 to preregister. After that, teams will only be able to participate by registering at the Hal-Con Gaming Desk.

The three rounds of the tournament:

Pandemic Survival will crown one World Champion Team in 2017!
In order to win the World Championship, the team will first have to win a preliminary round (like the one being held at Hal-Con), which will give them an invitation to the National Finals. There, they will have to win their spot for the World Finals. The World Finals will pit teams from all participating countries against each other in order to crown the ultimate champion!

We are the first preliminary event being held in North America, so the details of where Nationals and Worlds are to be held are still being worked on. Winners will be notified as soon as those details have been finalized.

Preliminary Rounds
You can enter as many preliminary rounds as you want! There is no limit to the number of times you can try and test your skills at Pandemic Survival, but only the strongest and/or most resistant teams will make it through to the National Championship.

National Championship
All qualifiers from the preliminary rounds will have the chance to face each other in the National Championship. From the National Championship, only 1 team will be able to fly off to Worlds to try and win the title for their country.

World Championship
The World Championship will pit all of the best players from all participating countries against each other in this one last epic battle for the survival of humanity – no pressure!
