Matthew studied Journalism at College of the North Atlantic in Stephenville, Newfoundland and has worked with Transcontinental Publishing as well as student-youth magazine The Troubador.

He has written five novels for Engen Books, Black Womb, Transformations in Pain, Smoke and Mirrors, Roulette and Ghosts of the Past.

An advocate for creativity and opportunity, Matthew uses the Engen Books publishing company to help young authors find their footing in the world of independent publishing.

Since 2007 he has traveled all over Canada promoting his work as well as teaching seminars on writing and publishing.
