Hal-Con COVID Health & Safety Protocols

We are returning to our full capacity for 2022 and are excited to bring you all of the awesomeness you have come to expect from Hal-Con! As we did last year, we will be following all health and safety protocols recommended by the Nova Scotia Health Authority as it relates to Covid-19. We will endeavour to keep this section updated as requirements change leading up to the convention, Hal-Con is committed to complying with any and all health and safety protocols for the benefit of all our staff and attendees.

Currently the province of Nova Scotia only requires masking for specific high-risk situations, but they are still strongly recommended in crowded indoor spaces. As such, masks are welcome and strongly encouraged at our event. You can find more information on current restrictions and guidance regarding Covid-19 here.

Likewise there is no provincial requirement to be vaccinated, but it is recommended that anyone who can be vaccinated should do so. We encourage our attendees to ensure they are following the best practices for their own health for the benefit of their fellow attendees and their own enjoyment. You can find more information on vaccines here.

With the cooperation of the Halifax Convention Centre we continue to make cleaning and sanitization a priority for the safety of everyone in attendance.

Hal-Con asks that any person who meets these conditions NOT attend the convention:

  • If you have tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 7 days prior to the convention.
  • If you have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 7 days prior to the convention.
  • If you are exhibiting new or worsening symptoms of Covid-19, this includes but is not limited to cough, sore throat, fever, extreme fatigue, headache, nausea, loss or change in sense of smell/taste, or shortness of breath.

If you think you might have Covid-19 you can find information on testing here.

If you have purchased a ticket for the convention and can no longer attend for any reason at all please fill out our Ticket Transfer Form or contact: tickets@hal-con.com

Acknowledgement of Risk

Though Hal-Con is taking steps to comply with provincial guidelines and prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the convention we cannot entirely eliminate the risk of contracting the illness. All staff and attendees of Hal-Con 2022 must work together to do their part to reduce spread. Any person in attendance acknowledges they do so at their own risk and will not hold Hal-Con Sci-Fi and Fantasy Association liable in the event they contract Covid-19 or any other illness during the convention.
