Gaming at Hal-Con is bigger and better than ever! We have over 5,000 square feet of dedicated game space, multiple tables for tournaments, free play, workshops and learning. We have round the clock gaming available, giving us the opportunity to game for nearly 36 hours straight!
There will be prize support provided by a number of fantastic game companies as well, so get ready for some freebies!
We’ll be hosting some special workshops (DM/GM-ing 101, etc) and round-table discussions over the weekend. Keep an eye on our scheduling page for more details as they are confirmed.

Magic: The Gathering Legacy Tournament (Saturday @ 10 AM)
Swiss-style Magic: The Gathering tournament using the Legacy format.
Great Canadian Board Game Blitz (Saturday @ 10 AM)
Each round, players select which games from a predetermined list games they’d like to play in some order (randomly at first, and then by accumulated points). Everyone then plays their selected games simultaneously and earns a number of points based on the rank they achieved in the game. After a certain number of rounds, the player with the most tournament points is the winner. The top-ranked player wins a weekend pass to FanExpo 2012 to compete in the CGBGB Finals.
This is a competitive but friendly event open to newcomers; games are explained if need be. Games are often shorter Euro-style games like, e.g., Puerto Rico, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, San Juan, Roll through the Ages, Saint Petersburg, Dominion, Power Grid, Tigris and Euphrates, etc.

Grudge of Ages Tournament
Warhammer / Warhammer 40k
- 2 day tournament with 5 games played in total. Scoring will be very similar to that used in the Throne of Skulls tournament in Vegas. Exact scoring will be laid out and posted very soon Warhammer 40k is set at 1700 points and Warhammer Fantasy is set at 2000 points.
- Registration fee is $115.
- TICKETS will only be available until October 15th.
- There will also be a painting competition going on beside it with an Open Category and a Young Bloods Category (age 14 and under).
- PRIZES – The top prize is each system is an invite to the Throne of Skulls tournament in Las Vegas 2012. (This doesn’t include airfare or hotel, just the tournament invite.) Best Overall will also include $150 of online voucher with Games Workshop’s online store. Runner up prizes of $100 and $50 for Best General and Best Sport, respectively, will also be awarded.

Munchkin Tournament
Hal-Con is hosting a Munchkin Tournament to celebrate Steve Jackson’s attendance as our 2011 gaming guest. The players who make it to the final round will have to face off against the game’s creator as Steve Jackson takes to the game table! Better start stacking up on bonus items and cards to ready! The full range of Steve Jackson Games will also be demonstrated throughout the weekend.
Eastlink Arcade
The Video Games Room has also expanded this year. Gold Sponsor Eastlink is providing multiple HDTVs and consoles for your use this year. Eastlink is also providing free Wi-Fi to all attendees at the convention!
Please note that the M-rated video games will be separated from the other gaming stations by a divider wall. This is part of our commitment to making Hal-Con a family-friendly event.
