Hal-Con Scholarship Fund
We are thrilled to announce that Hal-Con Sci-Fi and Fantasy Association will be launching a scholarship for Visual or Performing Arts in 2025. Hal-Con is dedicated to uniting members of the sci-fi & fantasy community by organizing Atlantic Canada’s largest annual convention, along with a variety of year-round events aimed at fostering connections and enhancing the community. Committed to celebrating pop culture, Hal-Con strives to establish itself as a cornerstone of Nova Scotian events while making a positive impact on both culture and the economy.
We are partnering with the Nova Scotia Talent Trust to establish this opportunity for emerging artists. Founded in 1944, the Talent Trust is a registered charity that provides scholarships to aspiring Nova Scotian artists studying music, dance, film, theatre, literary arts, and visual arts.
How much is the scholarship?
The Hal-Con Scholarship is valued at $1,000 (CAD) and will be awarded annually to an emerging artist or student in the fields of creative arts or gaming development, with preference given to those demonstrating an interest in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres.
How do I apply?
Applications for the Hal-Con Scholarship are handled by the Nova Scotia Talent Trust (NSTT) and will open in January 2025. Visit the NSTT website for more information on how to apply and stay up-to-date with the latest information on their scholarships, awards, and events.
Can I donate?
Absolutely! The Hal-Con Sci-Fi and Fantasy Association has already made a $30,000 (CAD) investment in the Nova Scotia Talent Trust Foundation Endowment, however, we are still accepting donations for our scholarship fund through CanadaHelps. You can donate with the link below.
