Hal-Con’s Annual Charity Auction

Hal-Con’s main fundraising event is our annual Charity Auction, held during the convention weekend. Our auction is now completely online—bid on items in real-time and pay right from your computer, tablet, or phone!

You can find an amazing variety of fandom gems from signed collectibles, art prints, unique handcrafted items, and more! Did we also mention it’s for charity? All proceeds from the auction will help support our local charities, find more info on the charities we support below.

Any winning bids may be claimed on the last day of the convention.

Charities We Support

Hal-Con’s charity auction benefits the IWK Health Center Foundation and Kids Help Phone, two great organizations that we’re excited to support! Our fundraising efforts are divided in half for these two charities. We send our donation to Kids Help Phone in the spring and present our cheque to the IWK Foundation at their annual telethon.

Since 2010, we have contributed over $65,000 to various charities, nonprofit groups, and community organizations—of which over $50,000 has been given to the IWK Foundation and Kids Help Phone.

IWK Foundation

The IWK provides critical and specialized care to women, children, youth and families throughout the Maritimes. Our donation will be provided to the Foundation at their annual IWK Telethon, and will help purchase priority medical equipment, fund ground-breaking research and support special programs for patients and families.

Kids Help Phone

Since 1989, Kids Help Phone has been Canada’s only 24-hour, national phone and online counselling service for young people. With just a click or a call, young people from urban, rural and remote communities in Canada reach out to Kids Help Phone more than 5,000 times a week. Kids Help Phone’s professional counsellors support the mental health and well-being of young people by providing one-on-one counselling, information, and resources, online and by phone.

How to Support the Hal-Con Charity Auction

We’re always on the lookout for cool and exciting items! We scour the internet, ask local artists and vendors throughout the year to request donations, and we’ll usually have a few special items for signature by our guests too! Our auction tends to feature geeky items, but we appreciate any item donations. Do you wish to donate an item to the charity auction? Do you have a suggestion for potential auction items that we can request? Contact us at Auction@hal-con.com—we’d love to hear from you.
