Jonathan Frakes is an American actor and director, perhaps best known by fans for his portrayal of Commander William Riker in the television series “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. The character Commander Riker, and by extension Jonathan Frakes, have played a central role in the Star Trek franchise, appearing in multiple series and films, most recently “Star Trek: Picard”. He is also known for hosting the series Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, and for voicing David Xanatos in the Disney animated series Gargoyles.
Frakes began directing episodes of The Next Generation during its third season. He has gone on to direct Star Trek: First Contact (1996) and Star Trek: Insurrection (1998), in addition to episodes of Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, and Picard. He has directed the feature films Clockstoppers (2002) and Thunderbirds (2004), as well as The Librarian, both the television films and the series, along with the television series Leverage, Burn Notice, and Roswell (which he also produced).
He has been married to actress Genie Francis since 1988 and they have 2 children.
