To the Hal-Con community of fans, geeks, nerds, and friends:
We’ll cut right to the chase: Hal-Con 2021 is happening.
It’s not going to look exactly like previous years, but Nova Scotia’s overwhelming success in keeping COVID cases low and getting vaccines in arms means that many of today’s public health restrictions will be lifted by late October. As a result, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be holding a scaled-back, in-person convention on October 23rd and 24th, 2021.
We know it has been a hard 16 months. When we officially canceled Hal-Con 2020 around this time last year, we thought we were closer to the finish line than we really were. The first wave was in the rearview mirror, but we had yet to be hit with the second and third.
At that time, we promised a bigger and better Hal-Con 2021. Today, we know better than to make promises in the face of a rapidly changing public health emergency, but we’re both optimistic for 2022 and incredibly excited for what we can do in 2021.
This year’s event will be smaller, but with the same heart that makes Hal-Con so unique. We’re working closely with the venue to determine exactly what total capacity will be and throwing all of our energy into planning the best convention we can. We’ll have local guests, programming, gaming, vendors, and cosplay—all the essentials you need for a real convention experience.
While you wait for all the details, there are two things you can do right now:
- Sign up for our email newsletter so you don’t miss a single announcement, including when tickets go on sale
- Fill out our 3-minute survey to help us shape this year’s event
Thank you, everyone, for your continued support. We’re so excited to see you all again, whether that’s this year or next.
Yours,
The Hal-Con Board of Directors
